forumZFD is an association promoting peace through a combination of practical civil conflict management and advocacy. Whilst implementing the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development funded Civil Peace Service Programme in the Middle East, the Western Balkans and Southeast Asia, forumZFD also engages on German and European peace policy and plays an important roles in the formation of peacebuilding experts through its Academy for Conflict Transformation located in Bonn.

Forum’s Western Balkans Programme focuses on dealing with the past and peace education. It is currently funded through the Civil Peace Service Programme, and forumZFD seeks to diversify its funding base, to increase the sustainability and impact of the programme.

PeaceNexus helped forumZFD to analyze the status quo of its current fundraising capacities and its administrative and management systems through two experts specializing in these questions. Based on their recommendations, some practices have been reviewed and some systems built. For example, the Western Balkans programme is now more effectively coordinating and keeping track of its fundraising efforts.

For the follow-on phase, PeaceNexus will support forumZFD in identifying the priorities for the organisational change necessary for transitioning into a multi-donor entity, and in planning and implementing effective the next steps in this regard.

“The support of PeaceNexus is exactly what we were looking for – flexible and focused assistance on a particular issue we have been struggling with, which is crucial for our organization.”
