The Progressive Public Association of Women (PPAW) “Mutakalim“ is a progressive association of Muslim women working since 2000 on the implementation of women’s rights, preventing discrimination and advancement of women, interreligious dialogue and peace in Kyrgyzstan. The organisation has developed approaches to work in the conservative religious communities and with branches in all seven regions of the country; it is well-positioned to play an important role in the fight against radicalisation.
PeaceNexus is partnering with Mutakalim to further develop its ability to engage and partner with international donors. Following a kick-off workshop that brought together all the regional coordinators, the organisational development process will focus on strengthening Mutakalim’s capacity to implement and report on complex, grant-based programs. A consultant is currently being recruited to provide training and mentoring support to the different field offices, to then help develop appropriate organisation-wide reporting tools.
«The support by PeaceNexus Foundation is timely and will help to build Mutakalim’s capacity to develop, implement and present reports and monitor program interventions. Already at this stage, we can say with confidence that the three-day workshop, which was held at the end of April, clearly showed our capabilities and limitations. We strive for better practices and achievement of new goals according to the chosen strategy “.
