Search For Common Ground
Search For Common Ground (SFCG) has 53 local offices worldwide and is one of the global leaders in peacebuilding. SFCG is working to transform the way societies deal with conflicts and is particularly known for its innovative use of media and for engaging youth. SFCG is using dialogue approaches, to bring people together across dividing lines, both on local and national level. It uses media to reach millions, for example through TV dramas and call-in radio shows. And through community approaches, it provides a safe space for people to work out their conflicts at a local level, for example through sports and participatory theater.
At the time of PeaceNexus Organisational Development support in 2015, SFCG underwent its first board and management leadership transition in over 30 years of organisational history, after merging with Soliya, another peacebuilding organisation. In addition, SFCG is sougth to shift its business model to more sustainable revenue streams, to ensure full funding for overhead expenses when implementing government-funded programmes. Each of these three undertakings was challenging; taken together, they required extensive strategic planning and systems review, which PeaceNexus was supporting.
