Supporting UNDP in Kyrgyzstan
Kyrgyzstan continues to face political, social and economic challenges. The country came back from the brink of war after a crisis in 2010, but the underlying issues behind the violence are still present. Several external regional factors are having a negative impact on stability, in particular transnational crime (drug and human trafficking through Kyrgyzstan), and the decline in the Russian economy that has severely reduced remittances from migrant workers, and a recent upsurge in religious radicalization.
PeaceNexus and UNDP have developed a partnership in support of UNDP’s convening role to promote inclusiveness and partnership building to overcome peacebuilding challenges.
