While it is widely known that businesses can cause disputes and increase tensions particularly in conflict-prone environments, relatively few efforts have been made to leverage the potential of business actors as drivers of peace and conflict transformation. However, the dependency of businesses on peace and stability on the one hand and their impact on society on the other hand makes them potentially effective and dedicated partners in peacebuilding.
We work to develop and showcase responsible business practice through our partners in the area of ‘business education’. Through partners in the financial sector we also promote ‘investments for peace’. In Myanmar, Morocco and Mongolia we support multi-stakeholder dialogue and dispute resolution to address local conflict and improve ‘company-community engagement’.
