Environmental degradation, biodiversity loss and climate change affect us all, and are already making our societies more likely to experience conflict, violence and hardship. Yet efforts to address environmental challenges, conserve biodiversity and respond to the challenges of the climate crisis are often divorced from work on resolving conflicts and promoting peace.

For this reason, PeaceNexus has teamed up with Conservation International, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Germany to produce this unique podcast, as we believe that these are among the most urgent and important questions of our time. The four organisations are committed to building bridges between the different communities working on conservation, environmental and climate challenges, and peace, and to explore opportunities for collaborating on environmental issues in ways that bring people together within and across societies.

“Voices for Peace and Conservation” is a 7-episode podcast series that delves into these issues and presents examples of how to connect environment and peace issues in practice. The interviewed guests include grassroots and international practitioners, researchers and policymakers, including Vicky Tauli-Corpuz, former UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and Juan Manuel Santos, former president of Colombia and 2016 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

Tune into our weekly episodes, starting June 3rd!
