Integrating gender in the DNA of peacebuilding: Learning with peers

Over two decades ago, United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 was passed. Since that time research has highlighted the gendered impacts of conflict and the links between gender inequality and outbreaks of violent conflict. Despite the evidence and well-established global normative frameworks, there is a gap between the transformative intent of UNSCR 1325 and its implementation. Practitioners grappling with these challenges have developed a wealth of expertise and experience. To capture this wisdom, Conciliation Resources and CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation in collaboration with PeaceNexus convened discussions on the lessons learned so far in integrating gender into peacebuilding and conflict resolution organisations. This report captures collective learning from 13 partner organisations on how to effectively integrate gender in peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
